Tour Itinerary Overview

Day 1

Pookote Lake, Lakkidi View Point & Banasura Sagar Dam

Morning pickup from Kalpetta town. Check-in to hotel/homestay and freshen up. Proceed for sightseeing to Banasura Sagar Dam — the largest earthen dam in India and second largest in Asia, an ideal spot for mountain vistas. Next, visit Pookote Lake, a natural fresh water lake nestling amid evergreen forests at an altitude of 770 meters. In the evening, visit Lakkidi View Point at the crest of the serpentine Thamarassery ghat pass featuring 9 scenic hairpin curves. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2

Kuruva Island, Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary & Thirunelli Temple

After breakfast, head out to Kuruva Island, a cluster of scenic islets situated on the tributaries of the Kabini River. Then proceed to Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, one of Kerala's premier sanctuaries for sighting wild elephant herds, bisons, spotted deer, and giant Malabar squirrels. Next, visit the ancient Thirunelli Temple (known as 'Sahyamala Kshetram' and 'Kashi of the South'), where Lord Vishnu prathishta was performed by Lord Brahma. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Chembra Peak Trek & Soochipara Waterfalls

After breakfast, proceed to Chembra Peak — the highest peak in Wayanad. The famous heart-shaped love lake ('Hridaya Saras') en route to the summit is a major attraction during the 4 km scenic trek. Next, visit Soochipara Waterfalls ('Needle Rock'), a spectacular three-tiered waterfall cascading down amidst montane deciduous and evergreen forests. Evening return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

Edakkal Caves, Karapuzha Dam & Departure

After breakfast, visit the historic Edakkal Caves in the Ambukuthi Hills, featuring ancient Neolithic pictorial petroglyphs dating back to 6,000 BC. Continue to Karapuzha Dam, one of India's largest earth dams, with picturesque partially submerged green hillocks that attract rare aquatic birds. Evening drop at Kalpetta Town by 3:00 PM for your onward return journey.
